The University of North Carolina (UNC) has undertaken the task of aiding illegal aliens, including those who have committed other crimes, while trying to undermine our immigration laws. UNC also allowed students and faculty to shut down a speech against illegal immigration with threats and violence.
And to top it off, the university has embraced globalization with a program to pursue corporate global engagement in an interdependent, multicultural world with all of the problems it has brought to America. Their actions in welcoming all the illegals who crash our borders will help lower wages for Americans further by providing an excess of workers in an economy where many American workers are unemployed and the numbers are rising.
Since there are no jobs, an amnesty bill will add up to 20 million new “workers” across America and put a strain on our welfare and Social Security systems. And that will make a rebound in the economy unlikely. (President Obama has just delayed another meeting with the immigration “stakeholders” and will have a new date”soon” on that amnesty bill conference.)
In the latest attack on the rule of law, the UNC School of Law…” joined forces with the ACLU (Americans Civil Liberties Union) and published a report aimed at stopping ICE cooperation, the 289 (g) program, with state and local (immigration) enforcement. The paper also advocates mass, illegal-alien amnesty.”
According to Jon Feere, the 152 page report “is quite an embarrassment for the law school as it provides no new data, no statistics, and very little analysis…Instead, the paper is full of accusations, inaccuracies, and anecdotal evidence.
He writes, “This report is part of a broader ACLU effort in North Carolina to undermine state and local enforcement of immigration laws.” The real agenda, he says, is “eliminating immigration enforcement altogether and passing an illegal alien amnesty.”
More from UNC. There are no First Amendment rights at UNC if you disagree with the leftist agenda on campus. April 14, 2009: “Free speech was destroyed today at Chapel Hill…” That was William Gheen describing his feelings when Tom Tancredo’s attempted speech on illegal immigration was denied by mob rule.
The Raleigh News and Observer reported on former congressman Tom Tancredo’s attempt to deliver a speech.
“Before the event, campus security removed two women who delayed Tancredo’s speech by stretching a 12-foot banner across the front of the classroom. It read, ‘No dialogue with hate.'”
“Police escorted the women into the hallway, amid more than 30 protestors who clashed with the officers trying to keep them out of the ocercrowded classroom. After police released pepper spray and threatened the crowd with a taser, the protestors gathered outside Bingham Hall.”
Inside the packed room, “two women stretched out another banner, first along one of the isles and then right in front of Tancredo. Tancredo grabbed the middle of the banner and tried to pull it away from the girls.’ Tancredo said, “You don’t want to hear what I have to say because you don’t agree with me.” See video.
Then, “The sound of breaking glass from behind a window shade interrupted the tug-of-war. Tancredo was escorted from the room by campus police.”
From outside 200 protestors shouted:
“We shut him down; no racists in our town…Yes, racists, we will fight, we know where you sleep at night.”
The University of North Carolina has a track record of taking actions that would harm America and its citizens. UNC’s Center for International Understanding has a program called the latino Initiative. It…”provides a fresh approach to changing demographics and is designed for policy leaders and educators whose communities are experiencing dramatic growth in their Latino immigrant populations.”
Part of their mission includes “…improving Latino health care and strengthening civic integration of (all) immigrants.” This dramatic growth is from illegal immigrants. The numbers in North Carolina are large and growing. So is the cost to citizens of the state.
That cost to the state’s taxpayers “for the approximately 400,000 illegal alien population, according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), is more than $1.3 billion annually. That equates to an annual cost of about $388 per native-born headed household. In addition, there is a cost to the state’s economy of another $1.2 billion from remittances sent abroad.”
Look what’s happening to California. The cost of illegal aliens inundating the state is a major reason why it is bankrupt yet “Arnold” the governator refuses to acknowledge the fact. What happened to California will happen to many more states and there is no savior on the horizon. It’s up to every American to plan for a future of lowered expectations, a future based on survival.
